Forever DC Comics Rules
*These rules are subject to change with little notice. That being, no rules will be enforced ex post facto. Please contact an admin with any questions or concerns.
Titles & Claims
1. A writer may claim their first title at any time. Additional titles may be claimed after meeting certain benchmarks.
2. A title can be claimed in a number of ways:
a. Ongoing Series – This is a title you have major plans for and plan to carry the series for a minimum of 13 issues with no maximum amount.
b. Mini-Series or Limited Series – This is a title you have a short idea for and then intend on dropping it. This title must be at least 3 issues long and no longer than 12 issues.
c. One-Shot – This is a title you simply want to one-and-done. Maybe you want to fill in for the regular writer, or you’re just writing a simple issue to tide things over between major runs.
3. Title claims can be submitted either through public claims or through private claims. All private claims will be made public upon approval. If a title is in the process of being claimed privately, it will be announced that a claim has been entered for that certain title that way everyone is aware that those characters are in the process of being claimed.
4. You may begin your title claiming up to 20 characters, excluding wallpaper characters. You characters will be claimed in the following categories:
a. Heroes – Those characters that are at the forefront of your title.
b. Villains – Those characters that antagonize your heroes, or serve in a villainous manner.
c. Support – Those characters that act as side characters in your story.
d. Undesignated – Those characters who don’t fit above.
e. Wallpaper – Those characters that are NECESSARY to telling a complete story with one of your other characters. This will be on a case-by-case basis, with full and total discretion going to the admins.
5. For you work to reach continuity, as an ongoing title, it must reach six issues AND finish a story-arc. Any titles that are dropped mid-story arc will be removed from continuity. For a limited series of one-shot, they must be completed to reach continuity.
6. You may claim an additional character per month, assuming you have met your deadline and posted your issue. You may claim an additional second character per month (assuming you’ve posted your issue) if you read and review 3 titles or 35% of the titles published that month (whichever number is larger). You may again claim an additional character if you supply a second issue of your title in a given month.
7. Because this is a continuation of actual DC Comics continuity, and DC published many books with the same characters in them (namely Batman), claims can be shared. This will be mostly to the discretion of the first writer to claim that character, but some characters will be allowed to hold two titles. Batman and Superman will always be allowed to hold two titles. This will not only grow interest for the site and bring in more writers, it will also help the world-building aspect of the board.
8. If you plan on killing a major character (Batman, Superman etc.) please run it by the Admins that way we can notify affected parties and curb future plans for the board around it.
9. Some groups and organizations can be claimed as a single claim. That will be on a case-by-case examination.
10. Read as many titles as you can. We are a community, not Fanfic.net. Let’s act like it.
11. Don’t troll. That’s not cool. And be friendly.
12. And finally, kittens are adorable.
